10 May 2023 The following document is kept here for historical purposes. It is not a reflection of my current status. -- Subject: Information about my attestation as "Sworn Software Engineer". Date: 2 February 2022 Version: 1. On 26 January 2022, I participated in an online ceremony to become a sworn software engineer. Below is the relevant information about it. About the qualifications of the person who swore me as software engineer: "I am a seasoned software engineer. Have been through many roles across many companies. I am confident you have (or know someone who has) used software I've contributed to in significant ways (not bragging, but attempting to state the authority by which I will swear you in)." The specific attestation: "I hereby confer upon you, in the presence of these my fellow internet strangers, by virtue of my ipso dato authority, a legitimate, legal, lawful, and sanctioned swearing of software engineer. You are now a sworn software engineer. May the demo gods always be beside you. May you bear with dignity and profound attention to detail every Jira ticket that is placed before you. May you be ever learning, ever debugging, and ever shipping on time, and on budget." 26 January 2022. Their asssessment after asking for a sample of my work: "my best judgement indicates that you are a talented beginner, worthy of joining the path of software engineering." Date the ceremony was held: 26 January 2022 Other important notes: · There is no conflict of interest. I have no personal relationship with the person. · The attestation was made on the basis of my work submitted. It is my own work. · I take my responsibility as a Software Engineer seriously. I model the ceremony on other serious professions; for example, doctors take the Hippocratic Oath and the President of the United States is sworn into office on a bible, vowing to uphold the Constitution. By the same token, I vow to uphold the principles and practices of good software engineering, and devote time each week to reading about this field and improving my abilities within it.
